The Gateway Hotel Beach Road Calicut

Location and staff is really polite and welcoming.

Property is old and not of really Taj Standards. Beds and lenins are full of bedbugs and AC ducts throw dust.

close to the beach and location is buzzing with cafes and other food outlets. The hotel is classy and staff were friendly

the property is long due for renovation

Cordially staff, Swimming pool and Restaurant.

Water accumulation in the wet area of the bathroom. Water not draining properly and leading to pooling. This has caused inconvenience and safety concerns especially with kids.

We had initial problems with bathroom tub drainage and it was sorted out the next day morning after I made a written complaint. Then everyone from the GM was apologetic. The food was excellent.

Checking the room thoroughly before allotting.Nice

Breakfast so good, dinning area near to swimming very nice location

Hello All, it was a great experience during our stay at the hotel. All the staffs were courteous. Food was very good and price were reasonable.Kids had a great time in the pool which was also closely monitored by staff. We would like to visit and stay once again in the gateway hotel in future.

Breakfast were good .But same items were repeated more.location is good and ambience is good. no city noise.

Bathrooms need good rennovation. I was told it is on the way.

Good quiet location and facilities. Good breakfast - spread, quality and service. Nice location and grounds from being an older property (negative quirks mentioned later). Their service provider for airport transportation is excellent - e.g. driver arrived 30 minutes earlier & very good service.

Quirks from being an older property, e.g. toilet spray for back cleaning has tube connection from bottom of vanity sink - barely long enough to get job done. Front desk - no follow through - e.g. asked for room-dining menu multiple times - did not provide. Realized later this maybe hotel policy - so that they could bill whatever they wish - exorbitant prices for food ordered through room service (bar bill for room dining was fair). Also, bill had different name for item ordered (was explained as "coding name" for that item). At checkout, someone looking like a supervisor/manager asked how the stay was - I said just OK - the guy smartly refrained from asking more.

Nice staff and lovely fronds

It said beachside quite a distance away not a nice pool view no nice restaurants and bars near so you had drink in hotel. Te breakfast was just ok more catered to indian

The picture shing in website and hotel is far different as building is old and interior and items inside also really old and did not meet the expecting of 5 star hotel and pool area does not have any privacy Thank you

Fabulous rooms - lovely staff

Could do with a lick of paint on the outside

Wonderful hotel: staff, room, services, garden. Rates are very reasonable. Most comfortable and enjoyable 4 day stay

The excellent spa is a bit pricy, and the very good breakfast could see more fresh vegetables.

The location is spot on. The swimming pool was very clean. The staff were very accommodating.

We booked a double room. However, we were given twin bed which gave us bad back. So, minus on that part. And, The bathroom was a little outdated. Needs updating .

The packed breakfast before we took our flight was great.

The lunch was overpriced for what we had, which explains why the restaurant was empty. While I appreciate this is a five-star hotel, it makes good business sense to price match against the local area so you can at least attract more clientele. There is no point in having a great venue that is mostly empty.

Big suit was very spacious and comfortable and pool was nice

Not enough sun beds in the pool area. Location was ok, but not a lot of food options or shopping unless you are more in the city centre which is not within walking distance.

Very well-appointed, even glitzy. Big breakfast choice, if limited for European tastes. Room comfortable and spacious.

Staff helped to unravel the mystery of booking Indian Railway tickets, but took a long while to resolve… Position Ok but unexceptional.

The breakfast

Incompetent froint desk staff except for Mr Sanjay, Deputy GM

Location Staff especially the manager Mr. Sanjay The spa

Mosquitoes ?Resturant food , probably there should be one more Resturant added providing other choices

The thing that makes this hotel great is the staff. Very attentive, thoughtful, efficient. Excellent food, breakfast buffet is very good. Comfortable beds with nice linen. Nice touches like bathrobe and slippers.

The property is somewhat old and in need of an update. Bathroom in particular needs upgrade, along with the pool, which is very nice but has chipped tiles.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay! Nice room, has a vernacular charm to it. Courteous and attentive staff. We loved the ayurvedic massage. The food at the restaurant was lovely too. Will definitely be back if we are in Calicut.
